A lot of visitors soon become seduced by the beauty of Southern Vietnam. What better way to start your love affair with the Southern part of the country by exploring it by cycle?

Visit the epic Mekong Delta in Southern Vietnam which hosts a vast amount of rivers, swamps, floating markets, villages, rice paddies and in general a combination of various green scenic delights. It begins in the Himalayas passes through China, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia and then finally reaches Vietnam. This delta runs between Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam and into Cambodia. No matter where you end up on the delta, the landscapes are phenomenal as well as the charming locals who live there! Some even live in bamboo stilt built houses on the delta! Did you know that the local name for the Mekong Delta is the River of nine dragons?

More to the point, it’s home to amazing wildlife. Worldwildlife note that the delta alone is home to at least 1,100 freshwater species with the diversities ranging from dolphins, stingrays and Mekong giant catfish! If you want to witness other things apart from the nature and wildlife there are some gorgeous pagodas as well as museums on the side of the river.

Day 1: Welcome to Vietnam and begin your acquaintance with your new cycle!
Welcome to the South of Vietnam also formerly known as Saigon. Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) is one of the most well known and largest cities in all of Vietnam. It is chaotic swarming with motorbikes and scooters. Likewise, it is also vibrant due to its buildings and an assault on your senses. Similarly, it’s also known as the commercial hub of Vietnam. HCMC is quite diverse in terms of infrastructure from modern buildings to old colonial French ones. It also has several street food vendors, coffee shops, bars and restaurants catering towards all food tastes! We advise you to take careful considerations if you choose to eat street food. When you arrive in HCMC we will be waiting for you at Tan Son Nhat International Airport. Once greeted will transport you to your accommodation. When you have settled, we will adjust our bicycles to your height to allow you to have a comfortable onward cycling journey. Following this, depending on the time you land, either choose to rest or explore the city for the remainder of the day. Included: ● Airport Transfer

Day 2: Cycle through rice fields, dragon fruit farms and be a true local eating local food.
Enjoy a delicious breakfast this morning as we promptly depart HCMC at 8:00 AM by minibus. We will travel to Long An. Upon arriving we will commence our cycling for 25km, through rice fields, dragon fruit farms and Myphong village to see how rice noodles are created. Afterwards, we will cross the Rach Meiu bridge and continue cycling along quaint country roads. Take in all the scenery you can on this route as the area around you is rather remote and gorgeously green. Spot the coconut canopies around you! Finally, we will reach Que Son. Then we will carry on to the picturesque location of Ben Tre. Ben Tre is a fun place to explore on cycle especially as it’s remote and away from the tourist beat. It is also well known for its coconut palms. Whilst in Ben Tre we will go on a boat trip around the village and enjoy a scrumptious lunch at a local place. Later, in the afternoon, we will get the minivan over the Ham Luong river and then take the ferry. After departing we will carry on cycling to Tra Vinh where we will spend the night. Day 3: Greet the Khmer Monks and Go Pagoda Hunting!
Today you will first reach the stunning Tieu Can. We will then visit the magnificent Theravada pagodas and come across the Khmer monks (whom were initially from Cambodia). Then we will proceed with our cycles to the mesmerising Ang Pagoda. An onwards cycle to Tra met for a well-earned lunch break. It will be well earned as we will have made up of 31 km distance. Finish your lunch and then take off in the minibus who will pick you up for a short ride reaching into Luc Si Thanh. Here we will peddle for a further 21KM to Tra On. Tired of cycling for the day? Don’t worry this is your last leg of the journey. Once we reach we will drive to the Cai Cu harbour and then take the ferry to Can Tho having dinner for the evening. We will also stay in Can Tho. Day 4:  Cruise Cai Rang’s floating markets and be amazed by the Bang Lang Stork garden
Have a good breakfast this morning to line your stomach for the boat trip ahead of us. We will embark on an early morning boat trip for a visit to the floating market in Cai Rang. This is an exciting experience as you will get to see first hand where the locals sell their fruits and vegetables. It is done from boat to boat. From there we will cruise the natural scenic waterways on the delta back to high ground. Once on dry land, we will cycle a local route by the side of the canal to Vi Thanh. Doing this will enable us to watch how the locals create incense sticks. After this, we will continue along the canals and gorgeous green paddy fields to O Mon. Then we will travel top the Bang Lang Stork garden. This is one of Moking’s most well known and best stork sanctuaries providing a home to thousands of birds. We will then pause for a lunch break and set off to Long Xuyen Crocodile Farm, Go Quao and Rach Gia. Finally, we will stop to see a rice-husking factory and bamboo handicrafts in a quaint local village. This evening we will rest during the night close to the Cambodian border. Day 5: Cycle along the west coast’s mangrove swamps and witness a unique natural rock formation
Today we will journey along the west coast via bike to the vivid border town of Rach Gia. Then we will visit the tomb of the national hero Nguyen Trung Truc. Nguyen was a well renowned Vietnamese fisherman who organised and arranged troops to fight against the French colonials in the Mekong delta. Afterwards, we will proceed by cycle for another 18km to the Hang pagoda as well as to Father & Son rock. This is a unique natural rock formation. We will then go on an impressive drive through beaches, limestone mountains, mangrove swamps and lush rice fields. You will spend this evening staying overnight in Ha Tien. Day 6: Visit the killing fields of Vietnam and explore a sacred mountain
Hold tight for a fun day today as we will peddle along the Vinh Te border canal onwards to Tri TÔn. This is a rural district with a population of over 14,500 people. First, you will visit Ba Chuc ossuary otherwise famously known as the killing fields of Vietnam. It got its name from when the Khmer Rouge arrived from Cambodia to Vietnam during the 1980’s. Throughout the day, you will also witness shrimp farms, mangroves and melaleuca forests. Later, journey up a sacred mountain that features epic panoramic views of the Mekong Delta and overlooking far into Cambodia. Take the time up there to appreciate the phenomenal scenery and absorb the memories created by the incredible sunsets on the mountain. If you do not wish to ride up the mountain you can walk or take the cable car. Similarly, if we have spare time today as a group there is an optional activity of visiting the Tra Su Forest. This hosts a large variety of birds and animals. Some of these features in the famous Vietnamese Red Book. Which is a book listing rare and endangered species in Vietnam. Day 7: Learn about the Cham people and go to a floating village
Good morning, we will start our day off by visiting a Muslim Cham village. This is an isolated islamic group in Vietnam who originate from Indonesia. Similarly, the locals maintain their old culture and Muslim values. This is rather dissimilar to the Vietnamese culture. By visiting these charming locals it will provide us with many opportunities to grasp and appreciate the culture of the Cham people. As well as their religious beliefs. Once finished, we will jump on a boat riding along the delta to a quirky riverside market. There will also be floating villages where many fish are farmed. Similarly, we will ride on more ferries and commute on some small local roads to Thuan Giang, Cho Moi and then we finally reach Cao Lanh. When we journey on this rural area in the Dong Thap province we will pass several large rice fields. Hence, why it’s also known as the big rice basket of the Mekong delta. Following this, in the late afternoon, we will head to Cai Be for the evening and stay there. Cycling Distance: 40 – 70 km   Included:

Day 8: Delve into some durian and taste other local fruits.
Fill your stomach with an early morning breakfast and we will depart early, around 7:30 AM. The reason for the early departure is that we will embark on a morning cruise to explore a nearby local floating market. Today we will also stop by Cu Lao Tan Phong to see the beautiful fruit orchards that have durian fruits (don’t be put off by their horrible smell, they have an amazing taste). Whilst here we will come across many other exotic fruits too. Make sure you take the opportunity to taste these fresh tropical fruits! Then we will take a short 30-minute rowing boat trip along the calm canals under the green canopy of the water coconut trees. Once finished, we will take the boat again and then stop off at a candy-making village. Afterwards, we get back on our cycles peddling 40km all the way to My Tho. Depending on time, we will pause for lunch at a rest on the way or have in My Tho. If time goes accordingly we should arrive around 5:00 pm in the afternoon. From here, we will drive you back to HCMC in return for your flight home. Cycling Distance: 40-55km Included:

TOUR LOCATION

This journey will begin in Vietnam’s largest city Ho Chi Minh City. We will travel across eight days to destinations such as My Tho, Ben Tre, Tra Vinh, Can Tho, Rach Gia, Ha Tien, Chau Doc,Cao Lanh, and Cai Be. Before we finish back in Ho Chi Minh City. You will be commuting to these places on various ranges of transport, such as bicycles, ferry, rowing boat and minibus.
