Weather to go to Thailand

 

Thailand is an incredibly picturesque country based in South Asia. It borders with Cambodia, Malaysia, Laos and Myanmar. It is surrounded by many seas such as the Andaman Sea of the Indian Ocean and the Eastern shoreline of the Malay Peninsula. The country also has 1430 islands. Due to its geographical location, the country experiences many different forms of weather throughout the year. In Thailand, there are three main seasons they are: dry, monsoon and wet.

 

North and Central Thailand- Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Nan, Chiang Kam, Kanchanaburi, Issan

 

Dry Season

This season occurs during November-June with a small chance of rain. The highest temperatures occur during March and May reaching high temperatures in the 30- 40 degree Celsius range.

 

Monsoon Season

Normally in Northern and in central Thailand, this occurs from July to September. This season becomes incredibly humid. It faces the highest heat during the months of August and September. Temperatures during these months hit around 28-34 degrees Celsius. Shows during this time can be sporadic so pack your raincoat

 

Cool Season

As a result of the monsoon season, this weather tends to be cooler, especially up North. It runs from October to January and the temperature decreases. The temperature ranges from 17-26 degrees Celsius. On the evenings the weather can be relatively chilly so bring some extra layers. This is a wonderful time to visit picturesque gorgeous green mountains, countryside, rice fields and flower fields.

 

The Gulf of Thailand- Koh Samui, Koh Phan Ngan, Koh Tao, Khanom, Hua Hin and Cha Am

 

Dry Season

This season starts in March and finishes in June in the Gulf of Thailand. Temperatures increase to around 29-35 degrees Celsius. During the months of April and May, the temperatures often reach their peak. Towards the end of this season, the month of June starts to see some rain for up to an hour-long period. At times this can be good as it clears the sky making way for the beautiful sun.

 

Monsoon

The rain starts to become heavier and showers more frequent from August to November in the gulf.  Likewise, the heat rises dramatically and temperatures are in the 30’s. However, there are still sunny spells. The months of October and November experience the heaviest rainfall.

 

Cool Season

 

December- February

During this season there is little rain cooling refreshing winds allowing consistent moderate temperatures. Temperatures range from 20-30 degree Celsius.

 

Andaman Sea, Khao Sak– Phuket, Krabi, Koh Phi Phi, Khao Lak, Koh Lanta, Koh Kood, Koh Chang and Khao Sok National Park

 

Cool Season

During November to March on the west coast of Thailand, the cool season occurs. Temperatures range between 26-32 degrees Celsius. Due to the breeze, the humidity levels are low making it tolerable for tourists.

 

Dry Season

The months of March to May experience a rise in temperature of 30-36 degrees Celsius. Temperature becomes more humid. If you like snorkelling or scuba diving the months of March and April are best to do this!

 

Monsoon Season

From May to mid-October monsoon season occurs.  The months of September and October often experience the most rainfall. Temperatures are around 26 degrees Celsius. If you love greenery this is a great time of year there’s so much green rainforest areas to explore.

 

We advise to also to check the weather forecast prior to your travel as then you will have a good estimate of temperatures and the type of weather that will occur.
