In the Sanskrit language, yoga means ‘union’ which unites the mind, body and spirit. Connecting the mind, body and spirit allows greater strength, flexibility, increased relaxation and broader sense of self-awareness.


The smallest country on the African continent is full of friendly natives, diverse ecosystems and rich natural resources. Locals live off the land fishing, farming and showcasing its natural beauty. The tranquil environment and welcoming locals make The Gambia a great place to implement mindfulness.


Immerse in vinyasa flow in our elegant Gambian Yoga Shala. Your yoga teacher Linda has obtained her qualification from Himalayan Yoga Bliss in Darjeeling, India. Practice this and mindfulness in a sacred ground with mature trees, flowers and abundance of birdlife. It will allow you to relax easily, unwind and connect with nature. Learn from a local how to make traditional Gambian dishes and engage with locals by the river or in villages.

Day 1: Welcome to The Gambia!
Welcome to The Gambia. Today you will be picked up from the airport and transferred to the lodge.   Spend the morning settling into your new surroundings by the bush and the sea. This afternoon you will participate in a short yoga introduction to get you started! Included:

  • Dinner
Day 2: Yoga and Village Walk With a Local
This morning enjoy flavourful fruit and sip some tea. Then we will move to the shala for the day getting your body moving.   A local lady Serani will take you on a walk to the village of Gunjur. Here you will encounter local life in a village, visit the market and a school. Also, you will see people enjoying their chat while watching life pass by.   Following this, we will return to the lodge around lunch and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.   Included:

Day 3: Beach yoga flow
Wake up to the beautiful morning sunshine.   Have fresh fruits and tea and walk down to the beach. Witness your surroundings slowly becoming lighter. This morning, as the sun is rising, we will do our first yoga flow on the beach.   Post yoga, there is time to swim or listen to the sound of waves. Then we will stroll back to the lodge for a late breakfast. Included:

Day 4: Yoga in the morning and cook like a local
Good morning, have some tea and fruit. Then we will meet in the yoga shala for today’s yoga flow.   After breakfast, you will learn how to cook a local dish taught by Mary. You will accompany her to the market to get the ingredients needed for today’s cooking. Then, once back at the lodge, you will take part in the cooking process.   You will finish with a delicious lunch, then have the afternoon at your leisure. Included:

Day 5: Morning yoga
Today we will have a morning session in the shala.   Following this, the rest of the day is at your leisure. Perhaps go for a massage or a pedicure? Included:

Day 6: Canoe River Cruise
This morning you will get up early, and we will drive to Kartong riverside. Here you’ll undergo a crushing trip on the river. You’ll board a dugout canoe with no engine. Enjoy a peaceful ride on the river while the birds wake up.   Your trip will finish up at the river by the lodge where we will do a short yoga session. Then we will have breakfast by the riverside.   Following this, the late morning, we will return to the lodge and the rest of the day is at your leisure. Included:

Day 7: Morning Yoga at the Shala
Enjoy your morning tea and fruit before our final yoga session. Today we will conclude our yoga week, and we hope you’ve developed tools to better your life.   Spend the rest of the day as you wish. Included:

Day 8: Depart The Gambia
Depending on your flight time, you will transfer to the airport. We hoped you had a great week and we see you soon.   Included:
