Norway is a serene country full of sustainability, clean air and marvellous scenery. Here are some fascinating facts for you to know and impress your friends, co-workers, family or travel companions with.

 

  • Oslo, Norway’s capital won the award for the European Green Capital of 2019. This is an award based on a capital cities contribution towards the environment. Oslo is a sustainable city and if you visit you’ll notice how the city centre is mainly traffic-free.

 

  • There are 8 UNESCO world heritage sites in Norway, one nature and the rest cultural.

 

  • It’s won the happiest country in the world, according to The country won this award due to different aspects of life such as life expectancy, GDP per capita, healthy years, social support, trust, absence of corruption, perceived freedom to make life decisions and generosity.

 

  • Norway has the largest amount of Fjords on the planet. There are over 1000 in Norway!

  • The World’s longest tunnel (Lærdal Tunnel) is based in Norway and is 24.5 km long according to VisitNorway. It was constructed between the years 1995-2000. It’s that big it has an average daily traffic rate of over 1000 vehicles per day. This tunnel links together Lærdal and Aurland in Sogn og Fjordan.
